Dr. Malcolm Ross is a consultant specialising in training, project management and research and development in the pharmaceutical industry.

He holds a B.Pharm and Ph.D in medicinal chemistry from London University, was a lecturer at the Welsh School of Pharmacy, UWIST and a Visiting Senior Lecturer in the Dept. of Chemistry at Bar Ilan University and is a registered pharmacist in the State of Israel.

Technical specialization is in the development of finished dosage forms with particular emphasis on solid dosage forms from both the analytical and formulation areas. Malcolm has been responsible for the development of over 40 Rx formulations and several OTC formulations including a number of innovative products. He is an acknowledged expert in pharmaceutical analysis with particular emphasis on Dissolution testing, HPLC, Particle size analysis and Flow properties of powders as related to solid dosage forms.

Over the years, in addition to R&D, Malcolm has had responsibility in areas of QA including worldwide auditing and has a thorough understanding of Quality Risk Management, GMP and QA functions with particular emphasis on Root Cause Analysis and CAPA.

He has been responsible for establishing R&D in several companies in different international environments. Experience ranges from small CRO style to large corporate structures with multilevel reporting.

Since arriving in Basel in 2006 and forming Generapharm training and consultancy Malcolm has run many training courses around the world, including Central and Eastern Europe, Turkey, India and China in addition to the UK and USA.

He has consulted on various technical and quality matters for a range of companies ranging from small innovative start ups through to major Pharmaceutical companies where he has been employed as a Technical Expert for External Supplies and later as QA for clinical supplies..
